Key Responsibilities:
- Design of DC/DC, AC/DC switch mode power supplies utilizing various topologies.
- Take products from concept to volume production while ensuring that it meets performance specifications, schedule, cost & reliability targets.
- Collaborate with the cross-functional team (PCB layout, Mechanical engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Test and Quality engineering) to ensure that design meets all DfX requirements.
- Select raw materials, components and suppliers based on product performance specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements.
- Lead research and development activities of new technologies.
- Perform cost analysis and produce cost estimates for new design concepts.
- Attend customer calls to collect project requirements and provide design status updates.
- Act as a subject matter expert in peer reviews, provide feedback and guidance as needed.
- Perform circuit simulations, DFMEA, component stress analysis, reliability prediction calculations, Design Verification Testing and write technical reports.
- Prepare documentation for product release.
- Support RMA group with root causes analysis.
- Participate in the recruitment process.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities when required.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 12-15 years of related experience. Or Master’s with 10-13 years of experience.
- Extensive experience in mixed signal circuit design, simulations, and test of power electronics.
- Experience working with magnetics and practical design of custom transformers and inductors.
- Experience designing EMC filters to meet regulatory compliance.
- In depth knowledge of power conversion principles, topologies, and technologies. HV and RF experience and/or knowledge is desirable.
- In depth understanding of control theory.
- Hands on design validation experience including impedance and loop phase/gain measurements, precision noise measurement, and load transient response.
- Must understand business strategies and have a high level of understanding for the business flow.
- Strong project management experience and supervisory skills.
- Ability to make economic judgments with respect to product cost and manufacturing process.
- Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
