PCB Design Engineer

We are looking for an efficient, flexible, meticulous and self-motivated PCB design engineer. As a member of the PCB layout team, you will be involved in all areas of PCB layout development including prototyping of new concepts, development of features, unit testing, issue investigations, design review, and documentation. You will be responsible for managing the design integration and launch of power conversion products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with a broad team to translate customer requirements into the best possible solution within resource, time, and technical constraints.
  • Work closely with production crew to optimize incorporation of DFM principles (design for manufacturability).
  • Perform library creation, schematic update, Altium script development.
  • Perform PCB layout for digital and analog circuit boards; generate fabrication and assembly drawings using Altium, Mentor Graphic Pads, SolidWorks, AutoCad, CircuitWorks, etc.
  • Work from preliminary schematics, part lists, and basic description of the board function, configuration, and arrangement as defined by engineering.
  • Collaborate in developing state-of-the-art designs of new or modified high density printed circuit boards.
  • Maintain technical coordination with Engineering, Products Design, Test Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Resolve PCB design issues with fabrication and manufacturing vendors. Participates in the evolution and definition of company’s Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidelines.
  • Establish design standards, component libraries, and vendor processes.
  • Conduct design feasibility studies to evaluate the PCB design goals for packaging, cost, manufacturing and system performance.
  • Propose PCB design trade-offs to the engineering design team for resolution and implementation.
  • Participate and provide recommendations into the PCB design specifications and standards with respect to product design, electrical design, manufacturing and various regulatory agency.
  • Interface with purchasing staff to resolve sourcing issues.
  • Engage with suppliers to resolve pricing, delivery, and technical issues.
  • Meet project budget & schedule objectives, and offer cost saving suggestions.
  • Participate in design reviews.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of product offerings.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather information and define product requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership within the product design group as well as to colleagues in other Engineering groups, Operations and Quality.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of related work experience Entrepreneurial spirit and thinking. Makes good first impression and is easy to work with; team player, collaborator, self-starter, high work ethic.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Altium, Mentor Graphic Pads, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office suite, and internet search engines.
  • Outgoing, Team player.
